3 Paintings in 3 Acts

In July 2012 I began a new series of paintings featuring cloudscapes, skyscapes, and terrascapes. The entire body of work completed through September 2012 can be seen at The Aero Series / Sep 2012.

The photos below show the evolution of the most recent of these paintings, a triptych titled "Aero No. 12". Click on each photo to see the 3 stage process up close. Thought it would be an interesting way to see how this particular set of paintings developed into their finished state in the fourth photo image at the end.

Another Painting Leaves the Studio!

Huge thanks to writer Hans Lüttman for becoming the newest patron of Reyes Fine Art! He selected "LA Skyline (Dawn), No. 2" to complement the creative environment of his studio in Hollywood.

The image in the painting was inspired by the dramatic light and clouds over downtown LA after an early morning rainstorm. This and its companion piece, "LA Skyline (Dawn), No. 1" are key works from my Urbanica Series. I am so pleased that it has found a new home and hope that the inspiration that helped create the painting provides similar creative inspiration for Hans and his work.

Reyes Open Studio Show :: Installation Shots

Pictures of my studio and artwork at my most recent Open Studio Show in Los Angeles. This, the 10th Anniversary Edition, marks a decade of art making/art showing since the first Open Studio I hosted when I lived in NYC.

Sold Out @ Sullivan Goss Gallery!

While I was sculpting away in Philadelphia (November 2011 - March 2012), I found out that four of my paintings on display at Sullivan Goss Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA all sold! It was my second year showing in the gallery's "100 Grand" Show and my first clean sweep. Some pictures of the show and the work follow:

Opening night of "100 Grand".
Always a packed house at Sullivan Goss!

Love the Salon Style display of the work!
Curator Susan Bush does a remarkable job making sense
of the different styles, shapes, and colors.

Apparently the patrons in Santa Barbara dig the landscape
AND the urbanscape as all four  found new homes!

Big thanks to Susan Bush and the Sullivan Goss team
for believing in me and putting together terrific shows!

Inside The Reyes Studio

End of August greetings to you! I was photographing some art work this week and wanted to share some shots of the controlled chaos that is my art studio here in Los Angeles. All kinds of exciting projects, both sculpture and painting, underway as of this writing in anticipation of a show at my studio on October 10, 2009 and in Santa Barbara, CA on November 14, 2009.
